The Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA), a non-profit organisation founded in 1981, was one of the first organisations dedicated to promoting antibiotic stewardship (AMS) and curbing antibiotic resistance (AMR), taking a One Health approach.

Following its merger with the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC) in 2019, it began developing new projects including:

• A free international platform to guide the selection of optimal antimicrobials for targeted therapy (coming soon).
Antibiotic cards which provide a one-page summary of the main characteristics of selected antibiotics.
Webinars on hot topics in the field.
• Publishing position papers on relevant topics (most recently on antifungal stewardship and diagnostic stewardship).
• Active participation in scientific events related to the fight against AMR.

 ---------------------------------------------

APUA currently has a Board of elected international members. To further promote and highlight global AMS / AMR issues, APUA is now expanding its individual membership which is open to individuals with an interest in this field.

APUA Membership is free and will put you at the heart of an international network to advocate for better use of antibiotics.

Membership offers several benefits including the following:

• The opportunity to share and collaborate on projects with colleagues globally.
• To participate in APUA webinars, position papers and other initiatives.
• To communicate and publish in the popular ISAC / APUA newsletters.

If you are interested in becoming an individual APUA member, please complete this short form.

Non-governmental organisations with aims similar to APUA are welcome to apply also.
